PolyU Lidar Research Station
A Lidar Research Station has been set up in PolyU's campus. The station is equipped with an EZ Aerosol and Cloud Lidar, and a visibility meter provided by the Hong Kong Observatory on a temporary basis. Coupled with the two AERONET sites managed by RSRG, these stations are able to monitor the air quality over Hong Kong. EZ LIDAR ALS300 is an unattended, eye-safe, compact UV LIDAR for measuring aerosol at different level in the atmosphere. With the advantages of transportability and robustness, it can be used in the field or mounted on a vehicle. Furthermore, it can be used to make continuous and standardized measurement of atmospheric structures, such as vertical profiles of aerosol structure, evolution of atmospheric boundary layer height, cloud height and identification of aerosol plumes, with high sensivity (50nm aerosol) and very high resolution (1.5m/1s) during both day and night. |
