Mr. YOGESWARAN NITHIYANANDAM
Recently joined the Remote Sensing Research Group as a Hong Kong Research
Grant Council (HKRGC) PhD Fellow from India. He is one among the two candidates selected from
India for the Hong Kong PhD fellowship scheme 2011/12, among hundreds of applicants.
He will be working on Urban Heat Island (UHI) research in Hong Kong region.
Research Interest
- Application of Remote Sensing for Urban Heat Island Studies
- Landuse Classification and Management using multispectral Satellite images
- Watershed Management using Arc SWAT
- Application of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) for Wastewater Management
- GIS Modeling and Analysis and Geomatics for Rural Health Care Management
Academic Qualification
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (Aug-2011 onwards), Department of Land Surveying & Geo- Informatics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong.
- Master of Science (M.Sc) in Spatial Information Technology (2007-2009), Department of Geography, University of Madras, Chennai, India.
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Physics (2004-2007), Pachaiyappa’s College for Men’s, University of Madras, Chennai, India.

- The Inspire Research PhD Fellowship 2011, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.( But he declined the offer and gave preference to HK PhD fellowship)
- University First Rank and Gold Medalist in M.Sc Spatial Information Technology, University of Madras during the year 2009
- Qualified National Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET) 2009 Conducted by University Grants Commission, Government of India.
- Awarded Mr.V.Pappu Lt .Col K.R.Karra Commemmoration Prize for the best performance in M.Sc during the year 2009
