Work-Integrated Education

Work Integrated Education (WIE) is work-based learning experience which takes place in an organizational context relevant to a student’s future profession, or the development of generic skills that will be valuable in that profession. WIE has been a compulsory credit bearing component of the undergraduate programs at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University since the 05/06 cohort, and students are required to complete it to be eligible for graduation.

Objectives

  • To reaffirm the positioning of PolyU as a University offering academic programmes in a professional context;
  • To strengthen the competitive edge of the University's professional-based programmes with a view to attracting more quality students and to enhancing the employability of students;
  • To help achieve Strategic Objective 1 of enhancing the all-round development of students.
