LASER SCANNING FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE RECORDING

Laser scanning is a very flexible technology that allows the accurate 3D recording of objects ranging from very small to very large.  The scanner generates millions of points (called a point cloud) that represents the surfaces of the object.  Recently the entire historical site of Tai Fu Tai has been scanned by students from LSGI.

From the point clouds highly detailed architectural drawings are created.
