Master of Science in Urban Informatics and Smart Cities (MSc) / Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Informatics and Smart Cities (PgD) - Application deadline 30 April 2021

Designed to nurture a workforce with the technological know-how for smart city development, this program will provide students with a foundational understanding of the theories of urban systems and science, training in new technologies, and hands-on experience in developing smart city solutions.

Smart city is a fast-growing area aroung the globe. By leveraging emerging technologies such as Internet of Things, Artificial Interlligence, and Big Data, the programme wit an interdisciplinary nature aims to nurture a workforce with the technological know-how for smart and sustainable urban development. Graduates will benefit from various employment opportunities in both public sectors and private companies. The employment opportunities come from a broad range of areas about smart city management including buy not limited to telecommunication, information technology, urban planning, transportation and logistics, public health, social welfare finance and real estate.

Besides, graduates also have great opportunities to pursue further study for doctoral degree locally or internationally.

Programme Characteristics

This programme embraces an interdisciplinary approach by offering a wide range of subjects covering theories and domain knowledge, emerging technologies, and applications for smart cities. These subjects generally require one evening class per week over a 13-week semester.

Tuition Fee
Tuition Fee for each Credit (HK$)
5,300 for local and non-local students
Initial Registration Credits
12 (Full-time), 6 (Part-time)

Course fee will be collected in two installments per year.
